Nursery: Mrs Collington supported by Mrs Hards Nursery and Reception make up our Foundation Years Unit. The nursery is designated as a 23 place unit, taking children for either the morning or the afternoon session. Mrs Collington the Nursery teacher is a very welcome addition to our staff team and is supported by Mrs Hards. Staff follow the Foundation Years Profile to promote the development of each individual child in order to achieve the Early Learning Goals, by the end of Reception Year. The children learn through play and directed activities in a friendly and happy environment.

Reception: Mrs Andrews supported by Mrs Macey
Mrs Andrews is responsible for coordinating the Foundation Years and is the teacher in Reception Class, continuing and extending the skills fostered in Nursery, developing them further through a more structured curriculum. The children will be introduced to phonics using letters and sounds encouraging the children to develop a love of books and reading. Your children will be expected to become more independent learners, whilst being encouraged to further explore their world through play and directed activities linked to specific curriculum areas.

Year 1: Mrs Pierozynski and Mrs Ward
Your child will have the benefit of working with two experienced teachers, each with their own individual curriculum strengths. Mrs Pierozynski works Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesday afternoons, while Mrs Ward works Wednesday mornings, Thursdays and Fridays. Both teachers deliver Literacy and Numeracy. Mrs Pierozynski's curriculum responsibility includes ICT, History, Geography, Science, PE and Music. Mrs Ward is responsible for RE, Art and Design and Design Technology. The class teachers liaise constantly to promote the development of the 'whole child'.

Year 2: Mrs Wright
In Year 2, the children are expected to be independent thinkers and learners, as Mrs Wright prepares them for National Tests in May. Cross curricular links are a strong feature, promoting the creative development of each child. The children's expertise in ICT will be encouraged and developed, especially as Mrs Wright is responsible for co-ordinating ICT throughout the school. Each and every child will be encouraged to work to their own particular strengths in a challenging and enthusiastic environment.

Year 3:Mrs Clancy
Mrs Clancy introduces the children to Key Stage2 curriculum, extending their learning and encouraging their use of higher order thinking skills in a stimulating environment. Class 3 are encouraged to support and help each other to become responsible caring individuals. They are expected to be organised, demonstrating care for their own belongings and those of others. Mrs Clancy is co-ordinator of Science, History and Geography, and is a member of the Senior Management Team. During this year the children are prepared for the sacraments of Forgiveness and Holy Communion.

Year 4: Mrs Bates In year 4 the children will be encouraged to take on a range of roles, developing responsibilty within the school and the wider community. Great emphasis is placed on the children taking ownership of their learning, promoting confidence and self esteem. Year 4 children will have the opportunity of swimming lessons at the local leisure centre.

Year 5 Miss Healy Miss Healy works closely with Mrs Pavlovic in the Carey block, encouraging children to become independant in what would be their entry year to middle school.
