Yipee!! Saint Vincent's are now Primary - up to Year Six! Togetherness is the hallmark of a united church.

Play and work

WE WERE INVESTIGATING SHAPE AND SPACE!! Numeracy is such fun, especially when we were working with shapes. We know that some shapes fit together and some do not. We know that shapes are all around us. We built trains, rockets and houses using our knowledge of shapes. We used triangles and squares to build houses. The triangular shaped roof fitted really well on the square shape to make a house. We used smaller squares to show where the windows went and we used the rectangle for the door.
Yeah we can write!! We used the classroom resources to practise our writing. We are learning to identify letter sounds and match them to the correct letter symbol.  We are learning to form our letters accurately. Did you know that every letter starts at the top? WE DO! Did you know that some letters are taller than others? WE DO! Did you know that some letters go under the line? WE DO! The other letters are all the same size. WE KNEW THAT TOO!

In our RE topic, WE BELONG, we heard the story of the Lost Sheep. It's hard to get lost when you belong to a family, a school, a community and to friendship groups. It happened to a sheep during the time of Jesus. The sheep wondered away and got lost. Nobody could find it. People thought, well it's only one sheep, let's not worry about it. Jesus told us that the shepherd did worry about that sheep and went out to look for it. To the shepherd, even one sheep is very important. What Jesus meant was, if one of us was lost, He would come looking for us, because we belong to Him and He loves us. Each and every one of us is important in God's eyes. It makes you feel that we can never get lost as long as we pray to Him. Through prayer, He can lead us back safely.
We heard the most awesome story ever told! We think you can all guess what it is. It was the Birth of Jesus. Mary and Joseph had to travel on a donkey for such a long time, Mary was really tired. When they got to Bethlehem, all the Inns were full up! They were really worried until they were told about a stable. In the stable were; cows, horses, goats and other animals who kept the stable nice and warm for when Jesus was born. We  told the story by acting and singing when we performed 'The lazy shepherd'.
